Hostels provide a high level of interaction with other guests visiting Kangaroo Island, allowing visitors to swap stories and share their best secrets of Kangaroo Island. 

 Rates are very reasonable and facilities typically include shared kitchen and recreation areas. Increasingly, hostels include ensuite bathrooms on a 4-6-share basis. Hostels on Kangaroo Island are located at the ferry port of Penneshaw, in the main town of Kingscote, on the South Coast, on the entrance to Flinders Chase National Park and in the centre of the Island. With limited public transport, Independent travellers are advised to join an organised tour or hire a car to make their way around Kangaroo Island.

Accommodation ranges from units and cabins through to multiple-bedroom houses and apartments. 

 Accommodation is located within walking distance of town shops and restaurants, or in more secluded areas including cottages nestled in bushland or a beach house with beautiful sea views. Many visitors choose to shop at the Island’s many stores or collect food and wine from local producers and prepare their own meals in their own fully appointed kitchen.
