Bait, Tackle & Ice

Tackle, bait and ice are available from Kingscote, American River, Penneshaw, Parndana and Vivonne Bay, and fishing tours are conducted from American River, Penneshaw, Kingscote and Emu Bay.

Fishing Regulations

There are certain sections of the regulations (Fisheries Act 1982) that all anglers should know before casting a line. Minimum lengths and bag limits must be adhered to. There are heavy penalties for infringements of the regulations. Contact Primary Industries and Resources, South Australia for bag and boat catch limits www.pir.sa.gov.au or phone 'FISHWATCH' on 1800 065 522. Aquatic reserves at American River (Pelican Lagoon) and Seal Bay are closed to fishing. Taking any marine organisms (including plants, crabs, shells, etc.) or disturbing the seabed is prohibited. Entering the water at Seal Bay is also prohibited. No fishing in National Parks rivers or creeks is allowed.

Filleting Service

For those successful fishermen (and women), KI Fresh Seafood in Kingscote offers a filleting service. Take your catch in and then pick it up ready to go on the BBQ for dinner. No longer do you have to worry about the time and mess that goes with filleting for yourself.
